General Play and Examples

IBGA Specific Examples:

Scenario 1 – I have a WHS Handicap Index of 19.8 and playing a Stableford Competition off the Men’s White tees, front 9 holes only:
Handicap Index: 19.8
Front 9 Course Rating: 32.6 (see IBGA Course Rating Certificate)
Front 9 Hole Slope Rating: 113 (see IBGA Course Rating Certificate)
Course Handicap for 9 Holes = 19.8 * (113/113) + (32.6*2 – 33*2)
– Calculation Course Handicap = Handicap Index * (9 Hole Slope Rating / 113) + ((2 * 9 Hole Course Rating) – (2 * 9 Hole Par))
– Course Handicap = 19.8 * (113/113 = 1) + ((2 * 32.6) – (2 * 33))
– Course Handicap = 19.8 * 1 + (65.2 – 66 = -0.8)
– Course Handicap = 19.8 * 1 – 0.8 = 19.0
Handicap Allowance for Stableford: 95% (this is provided by England Golf)
Playing Handicap: 18 (19.0*0.95 = 18.05)
* Bear in mind this calculation as IBGA Course Handicap Tables are based on playing 18 Holes.

Scenario 2 – I have a WHS Handicap Index of 26.2 and playing a Medal Competition off the Ladies’ Red tees, 18 holes:
Playing Handicap: 26.2
Course Rating: 66.1 (see IBGA Course Rating Certificate)
Slope Rating: 117 (see IBGA Course Rating Certificate)
Course Handicap: 27 (see Course Handicap Table – 25.6 to 26.5 = 27)
Handicap Allowance for Stableford: 95% (this is provided by England Golf)
Playing Handicap: 26 (27*0.95 = 25.65)
